A contingent from the Barbados Cadet Corps (BCC) recently visited the LOGOS HOPE II, often referred to as the “book ship,” docked at the Bridgetown Port. Captain of the LOGOS HOPE II James Berry and first mate Jas Soler warmly welcomed the 17 cadets and three officers aboard the ship for an exclusive tour.

Major David Clarke noted that this tour strategically aligned with one of the Corps’ youth development initiatives, the promotion of literacy. He further explained that, this was the first visit to the vessel by the Corps and it provided the cadets with a greater knowledge of the ship’s history, the over 50 diverse cultures of its volunteers, the importance of reading for knowledge and opportunities for maritime careers.

BCC Sea Cadet, Leading Seaman Britney Scott, noted that she was very thankful to the Corps and the Captain and crew of the LOGOS HOPE II for the educational tour which expanded her methods of learning. She said, she was given a unique opportunity to interact and network with fellow seafarers and welcomed other similar opportunities to assist with her development as a Sea Cadet and beyond.
