EZRA STUART, Nation News   October 10 2017 The heir to the throne, Sheldene Walrond, was crowned as the new queen of road tennis in Barbados with the keys to a new Kia Rio.The smiling smasher created history Sunday night when she became the first woman to not only win a motor car in the indigenous sport, but any individual sporting competition in Barbados.     Sheldene Walrond in action on court (Mark Wellington) In a battle between two 41-year-olds, Walrond came from the jaws of defeat to dethrone defending champion Kim Holder 20-22, 21-19, 24-22 in the women’s final of the Barbados Public Workers’ Cooperative Credit Union’s Monarchs of the Court at the Big Rock Arena, alongside the Spring Garden Highway. Holder had dominated the women’s game with a seven-year unbeaten reign, but Walrond has gradually ended her aura of invincibility, winning their last four clashes this year to start her own legacy.
